Outfit #13- Off-Shoulder Minis and Lace-Up Heels
Dress- Nordstrom- couldn't find it but click here for a romper instead ;)
You know the night you go out to dinner and stuff your face with chicken parm, french fries and cheesecake? (Yes, basically every other night.) This is the outfit you wear for that. Food baby? No problem. This dress is designed like a paper bag. Like if this dress was sh*t brown and we put the Whole Foods logo on it, people would mistake my body for a yellow squash.
My photographer Madelyn, who is basically my mom and picture posing coach said to me, “Kristie, you need to turn your body differently, you look like a stick.” It was the funniest moment of the day by far. Downfall of having no chest. And I'm sure if you're reading this you have that problem too. If you don't have boobs like me, show off those collar bones instead ladies! Collarbones frame your torso the same way your eyebrows frame your face. I just made that up but it sounds right. Dust a little highlighter on them and they're brighter and more prominent than Rudolf's red nose.
The off-the-shoulder gives it a romantic, date night vibe. The loose sleeves and the cherry blossom detail also bring that feminine feel. The baggy, unstrucured body of the dress allows a bit of room for imagination (wink, wink.) So ya, it looks very pretty, but really I’m just a girl who likes to eat. I'm only wearing this dress because I want to eat my body weight in cheese and still look like a giggly, chic blonde doing it. I'm usually not a fan of baggy clothing, but I'll take this over having to unbutton my forgettable black jeans. Overall, solid, comfortable date night dress. And when I say date night I mean Lolita's with Steph and Sam.
I cannot speak highly enough about these shoes from Free People. They are the best spring/summer shoes I own. I also have them in the chestnut color and those ones look great with jeans. I love the pastel colors because they pretty much go with everything. I used to only buy black and brown shoes but now I actually prefer colored shoes. They just make your outfit that much better and bring more versatility to your closet.
This dress actually has a little bit of pink on the flowers so it matched perfectly. Who do I think I am matching like this? Absolutely killing it. IMAGINE if I had black shoes on. How boring would that be. Dull to say the least. Super comfortable shoes, so easy to walk in. Chunky heel. The sexy lace up look covers over my gross pale feet. What more can you ask for?
Take away: Collarbone brightening and pastel heels. DO IT.
